Author Robert Heinlein said: “Where there is a cat there is culture” and it’s probably no coincidence that artists from around the world raise and love cats: George Clooney, Iggy Pope, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, our Ramy Fortis (the king) are just part of a long list of cultural figures who know how wonderful life is alongside cats. And to disprove the nonsense of the hapless bachelorette with the cats – of course I’ve only chosen gorgeous men.
So here are some facts you probably didn’t know about cats and might make you come to us over the next week, in honor of our Cats Week and to adopt one (or two) of our wonderful cats:
- Studies prove that staying alongside a cat at home adds calmness and tranquility to the home. Petting a cat lowers blood pressure and reduces the chances of having a heart attack/stroke.
- The gargling of a cat is not only a source of comfort for its owner, it also has healing powers. It has been found that the vibrations, which range between 20 -142 Hz, lower blood pressure, strengthen bone resistance, heal muscle injuries and reduce symptoms of shortness of breath.
- Children who grow up around cats develop a stronger immune system. According to a study published in the Journal of Pediatrics and conducted in Finland, children who grew up with cats will suffer less from allergies and respiratory problems.
- The choice to adopt a cat is definitely a commitment, but a cat is an independent animal that requires very little care: no need to go down with them for a walk (they defecate in a crate), they clean themselves, and they sleep 70% of the time.
- A cat will protect you from pests, rodents and snakes. This is his role and destiny.
- If you intend to adopt a cat, consider adopting two. They’ll entertain and play with each other, so even if you work late they’ll still have each other.
- Cats are very sensitive to vibrations and are supposed to detect an earthquake about 10 to 15 minutes before humans feel it. If you are anxious people – the cat will promise to warn you before a terrible disaster.
- This is the funniest animal there is and will attest to this every person who has adopted a cat in his life. He’ll be able to make the most depressed people laugh and tear with laughter the optimists among us.
- Despite what is commonly said about them – they are loyal and love those who care for them and dozens of stories on the web will prove to you how much they protect their family.
- Even if you are not convinced, always remember that in your neighborhood live cats who will be very happy if at least you could help them survive the difficult life on the street.
