Deep pain

Oz was so scared of people, he ran and hid in a deep drainage channel.
When he got to us the nightmare was revealed:
A deep, infected wound all around his neck.
It seems he’d grown into a collar that became embedded in his flesh,
With no one stopping to help him.
The team cleaned the wounds and began intensive treatment,
And now he is awaiting a surgical assessment.
His body is wounded.
His soul is scared.
