Starvation, neglect and withholding medical care are just some of the things we found during our two-months undercover investigation at the Sderot municipal pound, which serves the Western Negev area.
Dogs and cats that end up in the pound are encountered with apathy from the pound staff in the best of cases, and cruel violence in the worst cases. Some of the animals are left outside the kennels even in the cold and rain, and some die in their pens, a slow and agonizing death.
We too found it hard to believe this is a pound supervised and funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, in millions of shekels! The Ministry of Agriculture on its part is in no hurry to end the abuse.
